Marquise Brown Expected To Return To Practice Next Week; Could Play In Week 2

Thursday, September 5, 8:08 PM

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder), who will not play in Thursday night's season opener versus the Baltimore Ravens due to a sternoclavicular joint sprain suffered in the preseason opener, is expected to return to practice next week and could be in play to make his Chiefs debut in a Week 2 showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals. If Brown looks good in practices next week, there's a strong chance he will suit up next week, although he could also need one more week to heal up. The 27-year-old's fantasy stock dropped because of his injury, but it could end up making him an excellent value pick, as Hollywood figures to be one of quarterback Patrick Mahomes' top targets when he's back on the field. With Brown inactive on Thursday night, look for Rashee Rice, rookie Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson to start in three-wide sets for the Chiefs.

Brian Thomas Jr. Among Starting Wide Receivers

Tuesday, September 3, 9:49 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. was named one of the starters ahead of the Week 1 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. Unsurprisingly, Thomas has been named as a starter after the Jaguars selected him in the first round of this year's draft. Thomas had a breakout season during final year at LSU where he recorded 1,177 receiving yards with 17 touchdowns. There was little doubt that Thomas wouldn't be a starter given Parker Washington and Devin Duvernay were his main competition. Now, Thomas will have to fight for targets with Christian Kirk and newcomer Gabe Davis. The expectation is that Thomas is going to see a solid volume of targets making him worth snagging in just about every fantasy format. The rookie wideout could end up being the best receiving option on the team before the season is done.
